Could you use an extra brain?

I have used almost every piece of software or web app out there that can help you organize yourself, but the best by far is EVERNOTE.

 Evernote Logo

It is like extra brain storage area.  You can add almost anything to Evernote, give it some identifying tags and then forget about it.  when you need the info you can search or look at your tags and quickly locate what you need.  Evernote works on PC’s Macs, iPhone, iPod Touch, various mobile phones, Blackberry as well as in the cloud.  Anywhere you can get internet connectivity you can use Evernote.  You can also have the application on your computer as a stand alone.  Over the internet Evernote will synchronise so that no matter what platform you use your notes will be identical.  It is totally free with minimal ads.  There is also a paid subscription $5 US per month which allows you to save many different types of files.  I use the free version and use it often.  It can recognise text in pictures too which can be searched.

Here is some info from the site:

Capture what you like, find it when you want

Stop forgetting things. Capture everything now so you will be able to find it all later.

Things to capture:

  • Tasks and to-dos
  • Notes and research
  • Web pages
  • Whiteboards
  • Business cards
  • Scribbles
  • Snapshots
  • Wine labels
  • Even Twitter messages

And then find them all any time across all the computers and devices you use.

No download required…

…but we recommend that you do

I don’t think I could live without it now.  For work I track blog ideas and Library information I encounter on the web.  At home I use it to collect decorating ideas, recipes, craft patterns etc.  I have no difficulty reccommending it to friends, family and colleagues.  We are so overwhelmed with info nowadays we need all the help we can get.
